Mateusz Goraj is one of the most accomplished guitarists of his generation. He has won prizes in numerous contests, including in Vienna, Kutna Hora, Rust, and Tychy.

He showed great talent from an early age, won first prize in national competitions, and gained recognition at the international level. From the beginning of his musical career, he was fortunate enough to learn from the great masters of the guitar, including Oscar Ghiglia, Carlo Marchione, Pavel Steidl, Roland Dyens, and Marcin Dylla.


Born in Bytom in 1984, he grew up in a family of great artistic tradition. He received his first guitar lessons at the age of six. He continued his musical education with Janusz Pietrucha at Tychy Music School and with Professor Wanda Palacz at the Secondary School of Music in Katowice.

Desiring to constantly develop himself as an artist, he studied at three music academies in three countries and graduated with the following titles: Magister (Katowice, class of Professor Wanda Palacz), Master of Arts with Distinction (Graz, class of Proofessor Leo Witoszynski and Professor Stefan Fuchs), and Master of Arts Summa cum Laude (Detmold, class of Professor Thomas Kirchhoff). He also graduated with distinction from Accademia Chigiana in Siena in the class of Oscar Ghilia.

He has received grants from the Federal Republic of Austria, the city of Tychy, Accademia Chigiana in Siena, the Polish Children’s Fund, and from the European exchange programs Socrates/Erasmus and CEEPUS.

Polish Television, Hungarian Television, and the Austrian radio station ORF1 have recorded his performances, and he has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra of the Polish Broadcasting Company in Katowice and the New Music Orchestra under Szymon Bywalec in the Witold-Lutoslawski-Studio of the Polish Broadcasting Company in Warsaw.

His concert performances have led him all across Europe, where he performed with international musicians from i.a. Japan, the USA, New Zealand, Russia, Germany, and Austria.
His performances always receive high recognition.
